My 6-month fellowship with the SAP Global Design business area ended at Christmas 2016. It was a fantastic experience to be part of a team living Design Thinking & Making day by day.
The data cuisine presentation by Moritz Stefaner at the SAP User Experience Day inspired me to create my own artifacts to say “Thank You!” at the end of my fellowship. The 26 Spicy Smiley cookies stand for 26 weeks full of insights and empathy.
And how do you prepare this appetizer?
- Sift 140 g flour and 2 teaspoons curry powder into a bowl,
- Cut 120 g cold butter in pieces and rub in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs,
- Stir in 90 g Gouda cheese, 2 teaspoons poppy seeds, 1 teaspoon black cumin, and 1 egg yolk. Knead to make a smooth firm dough.
- Refrigerate the cookie dough covered for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 190 C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the cookie dough from the fridge and on a lightly floured surface roll the dough out until it has a 3 mm thickness.
- Using “smiley” cookie cutters, cut the rolled dough, place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, and sprinkle them with cumin seeds.
- If time allows, refrigerate the cookies for another 15 minutes before baking them.
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the edges begin to start during golden brown.
- ENJOY! Serve them still warm or allow them to cool completely.
