January is the best month to compile a list of trends for the topic you are passionate about: I’ve had a look at six different sources and I’ve identified six major trends for people interested in the future of work – now – in 2017.
Build & retain diverse talent pools
The labor pool is increasingly diverse, multi-generational, and global. Competition for talents is rising. Toxic work cultures with unethical business practices become – hopefully – unattractive.
Experience simple processes and solutions
People expect the same experience at work than at home. HR to be run as a service organization. Talent process to be simplified. Therefore, the design of an employee experience that is at once compelling, enjoyable, and simple is essential.
Treat employees as individuals
Leaders help their employees to become better by providing concrete feedback. Employees would like to choose the working location based on their personal needs and preferences. Employees take charge of their continuous learning based on curated content and facilitated experience.
Develop the organisation
The business operates as a network of teams across companies. These networks are able to adapt to changing environments. Leadership models have to adapt to the digitalization. Same applies for the social collaboration within and between organisations.
Manage the shift to nonformal employees and machines
The importance of crowdworking platforms and contingent workforce increases. The challenge is to engage and integrate this non traditional workforce. Additionally, Routine activities have a high probability of being automated. Solutions are enhanced by machine learning services. More and more employees have to learn new capabilities. The managers have to tackle skill shift and upskilling.
Offer data-driven services
People are willing to share data, if the benefits are clear to them. Moreover, data protection and data security have to be taken seriously. Most people still tend to trust human judgement. Additionally, the challenge is to capture the data across the different systems.
