I enjoyed three fantastic days at d.confestival in Potsdam and Berlin. The journey started with a text message from my fellowship colleagues Tatjana and Johanna who asked me whether I would like to facilitate a visual pitching session at d.confestival with them: yes, of course, fully motivated!
One key take away from d.confestival is that design thinkers have to think big in transformation. Uwe Raschke, CEO Bosch Power Tools, has shared the inspiring story of the transformation of his 5-billion company based on design thinking principles.
Another extraordinary keynote has been delivered by Dr. Frederic Pferdt, Head Innovation and Creativity Programs at Google, who introduced the concept of innovation culture based on interactive exercises. One hour full of insights on what it takes to establish a culture of innovation in a company. Psychological safety is essential for innovation. This point has also been explained in some more details in the excellent neurobiology talks with Caroline Szymanski and Stefanie Faye Frank.
“From IQ to WeQ” was the central theme of the third day. Peter Spiegel introduced the paradigm shift towards the “We” and its soft skills cloud. I enjoyed the opportunity to visit innovation spaces across Berlin. I particularly appreciated the “Innovation on Wheels” bus tour delivered by Innovation Radicals. And yes, I also loved their “Facilitape It” session!

The best at a conference is always to have the opportunity to be on stage. This is my fourth take away from d.confestival: it has been an extraordinary experience to see how many participants were interested to combine their pitching and visual skills to tell a story within just ten minutes of preparation time. Kay Herschelmann has taken a really energetic picture...
